Few years ago, I fell in love with the lovely creole village of Hell-Bourg in La Reunion.
I take you for a day with me in a heaven of peace and quietness, blend of tradition and breathtaking views.
It will take a little over an hour drive from Saint-Denis to the village by a winding road but the landscapes are worth it ! To access, take the direction of Sainte-Marie / Sainte-Suzanne, continue to Exit Saint-André, then take the direction of Salazie / Hell-Bourg.
Let’s go !
On the road
Le Voile de la Mariée
Salazie
And, a few minutes later…
Hell-Bourg
The lovely village square
Continue on the main road where you can find something to eat or drink, and some souvenir shops.
To eat a “crêpe” : Crêperie Le Gall, 55 Rue Général de Gaulle (3-12€)
To eat local : Chez Alice, 1 rue des Sangliers (8-18€)
Fresh food, generous homemade meals, friendly and authentic atmosphere !
On your right you can follow a path leading to Maison Folio. Typical “case” and garden with exotic scents : the Creole art of living !
Open daily 09:00-11:30am / 02:00-05:00pm (5€/pers.)
For me, the best place in the village still worth a short walk again to the Anciens Thermes
Here we are guys !
The ancient baths
The beautiful garden
The sun
The sound of the river
Well… I think I’ll continue this article later. It’s nap time !
